3D renderings and walkthroughs in Ecuador: Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca

By Facundo Campo · · 5 min read

In short: Ecuador's three main cities sell different things: the view and the light in Quito, gated urbanizaciones and outdoor living in Guayaquil, a calm, walkable life in Cuenca. A 3D walkthrough on the phone shows each buyer what they care about, including retirees from abroad and Ecuadorians living in Spain or the US.

3D renderings and walkthroughs in Ecuador: Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca · Recorrido 3D

3D renderings and walkthroughs help developers in Ecuador sell apartments, suites and houses before they're built, in Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. The buyer opens a link, walks through the furnished unit with morning, afternoon or evening light and forwards it to whoever helps decide, whether that's family in town or a partner abroad. I make them remotely from Buenos Aires, in English and Spanish.

Three cities, three products

Quito: the view, the light and the slope

In Quito, geography defines the product. In sectors like La Carolina, González Suárez, Quito Tenis or Bellavista, buildings compete on their view of the city, the mountains or the volcanoes. Out in the valleys, in Cumbayá and Tumbaco, you find low-rise buildings and houses with more green space and a milder climate.

Quito buyers mostly ask what they'll see from the window and how much light comes in. With sunny mornings and afternoons that can turn fast, they want to know whether the living room gets sun, and when. Seeing the same room in morning, afternoon and evening light answers that better than any description. And an apartment with an open view holds its price against another one in the same building once the buyer can see the difference. See defending your price per square foot.

Guayaquil: urbanizaciones, heat and outdoor living

In Guayaquil, much of the new housing is in urbanizaciones: gated residential developments, especially in Samborondón and along the Vía a la Costa, with houses, villas and low-rise buildings. There are also towers near the river or downtown. The heat changes the conversation: buyers look at ventilation, shade, the pool, the social area and the patio.

In an urbanización, they also want to see the whole thing: where their house sits, what's around it, what the clubhouse is like. See 3D walkthroughs for gated developments and lot sales.

Cuenca: scale, calm and foreign retirees

Cuenca is smaller, with a much-loved historic center, and it's well known among retirees from the United States and Canada looking for a quieter life. Projects tend to be low-rise buildings or clusters of houses. Local buyers look for quality and location. Foreign buyers want a unit ready to move into and surroundings that feel safe and walkable.

In Cuenca, respecting the setting also sells: showing the building on its real street, next to its neighbors, helps buyers see that the project fits the city. See facade and exterior renderings.

If you're a relocation advisor or an agent working with North American retirees, a walkthrough link lets your clients explore a Cuenca project from home, in English, before they book a scouting trip.

Suites, apartments and houses: what to show in each

In Ecuador, a suite is a small apartment, a one-bedroom or a studio. Each product comes with its own main doubt:

  • Suite: will everything fit? Seeing it furnished, with the bed, the desk and the open kitchen, answers better than square meters.
  • Two- or three-bedroom apartment: how does a family live here? The dining table set, the kids' room, the balcony.
  • House in an urbanización: what are the yard and the development like? The garden, the terrace, the clubhouse, the internal streets.

One walkthrough per unit type covers every unit where it repeats. A 40-unit building with 3 types needs 3 walkthroughs, not 40. An urbanización with 3 house models needs 3, however many houses it has. See a 3D walkthrough per unit type.

The Ecuadorian living abroad

Many Ecuadorians live in Spain, the United States and Italy, and some of them buy back home: to return, for their parents or as an investment. They can't visit the sales office, but they can open a link on their phone, walk through the apartment at their own pace and send it to family in Quito, Guayaquil or Cuenca for an opinion.

If the advisor also books a video call walking through the same unit, buying from abroad stops feeling like a leap in the dark. See selling to foreign buyers and sales meetings over video call.

What the buyer sees

For a building, it works like the Maconda XXIV building demo, an unofficial working demo based on a 12-story building in Quilmes, Argentina, marketed by Otamendi Propiedades: the building on its real street, tappable floors with each unit's availability, and a walkthrough of each apartment by scrolling or swiping.

For houses, the reference is the house demo, an unofficial demo based on the Americana 35.64 model by Viviendas Roca, where the floor plan rises into the house, with morning, afternoon and evening light.

It all runs in the phone's browser, with nothing to install, and goes out on WhatsApp or sits on the project's website.

How we work remotely

I work from Buenos Aires on Argentina time (UTC−3), two hours ahead of mainland Ecuador, so mornings in Quito or Guayaquil overlap well with my day. From your side:

  1. You send the plans, the finishes spec, the location and who you're selling to.
  2. We meet on a video call to decide which unit types, house models, images and views you need.
  3. You review progress by link and send changes by WhatsApp or email.
  4. You get the walkthrough as a link for WhatsApp, the website and ads, plus images for portals and social media.

Nobody needs to travel. More in working with a remote rendering studio.

If you're selling a building or an urbanización in Quito, Guayaquil or Cuenca and want to see how it would look, message me on WhatsApp at +54 9 11 6193-3176 or email facundocampo100@gmail.com. I answer in English and Spanish.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for houses in urbanizaciones, not just buildings?

Yes. Each house model gets a walkthrough inside, and the development is shown with its shared areas. Since models repeat, you don't need one walkthrough per house.

Can an Ecuadorian living in Spain or the US see it?

Yes. It's a link that opens in the phone's browser in any country, with nothing to install.

Do you need to travel to Ecuador?

No. Everything is coordinated remotely: plans by email, progress by link and meetings by video call.

How much does it cost?

It's quoted per project, based on unit types, house models and images. See how much a rendering costs.
